Gene Expression

Gene expression is the entire process that takes the information contained in genes on DNA and turns that information into proteins. This tutorial will examine the two major steps in gene expression, transcription and translation, and then examine how these steps are controlled.

This tutorial has four parts:

  1. Vocabulary - a list of words that you should know
  2. Transcription - a step-by-step description of the process of transcription
  3. Translation - a step-by-step description of the process of translation
  4. Gene expression control - a description of the Lac operon

For Biology 101, you must also complete the "worksheet". This worksheet has several questions that you must solve. You may refer back to the tutorial material or use the book for this section.
